March 6, 2006, ADDIS ABABA – Tegbar League’s DC Chapter held its monthly town hall meeting yesterday in Washington DC at the Unification Church. The main topic of the meeting was the March 20-24 civil disobedience campaign that is planned by Tegbar chapters in Ethiopia. Participants of the meeting expressed strong support for Tegbar’s trail blazing effort to force the Meles dictatorship to respect the Ethiopian people’s right to choose their government.

During the meeting, Tegbar’s Congressional Relations and Fund Raising teams also presented progress report. The Congressional Relations team reported that a great deal of effort is being made to have HR 4423 passed in Congress. Tegbar has so far succeeded in gaining strong friends in the United States Congress for the cause of freedom in Ethiopia. Through Tegbar’s consistent and tireless effort, many members of the U.S. Congress are now more aware of the political crisis in Ethiopia than ever.

Even though it will be helpful to develop good relationships with members of the United State Congress and other U.S. officials, Tegbar realizes that change in Ethiopia will come only through a bitter struggle by the people of Ethiopia against the brutal dictatorship.
